Howdy!
Hey , I trust that all is well, and that you guys are ready for the latest installment of ” Not The Only One! ” . There is a kind of cute movie playing in the theaters about some teenage mutant ninja turtles. I’m not real sure how long the turtles have been on the scene, but they are not new and this is just the latest installment, much like this post ☺️☺️. Our culture, seems a little bit obsessed with mutants and other kinds of super hero’s. There is a whole franchise committed to Mutants in the X – Men series. On some levels I view it as another version of escapism. It is another place where we get to wrapped ourselves up in some kind of fantasy world to get away or take a break from real life issues . As they say, it’s not just for kids anymore. ☺️ I actually have run across grown ass men in heated debates about superman verse Ironman, and I’m like are you serious☺️☺️??. I will admit that it is a nice change of pace from all of the divisiveness around politics, but they still have that vein popping out of the middle of their foreheads ☺️☺️. It seems that quite a few of the super hero’s are birthed out of some kind of a mutation. Spiderman was bitten by a radio active Spider, the incredible Hulk was exposed to an excessive amount of Gama radiation, and , on and on the list goes. I won’t bore you with an extensive list of similarities or how I became so knowledgeable myself ☺️☺️.
In real life mutations are not usually a good thing, they can cause birth defects and other disorders, that doesn’t usually land people on the favorable side of super hero’s status. Sometimes it can land on the harmless side of things, such as a recessive gene, that may lead someone to have very beautiful blue eyes. It may even be to bless someone with freckles, which on the harsh side of things, may just mean a little extra sun screen ☺️☺️. Mutations, usually point to something being out of sink. In actuality, a slight deviation in one single gene can cause a variety of abnormalities and disorders. Unlike chemical imbalances in our bodies, which sometimes can be made to mimic correct responses in the body through medications or certain kinds of therapies, mutations are often the result of something that we inherited from the gene pool of our parents. This is not always the case, but sometimes it can be something in the environment that will make conditions favorable for a mutation to occur. Your mind may run to some catastrophic event such a hydrogen bomb being dropped on Hiroshima or Chernobyl in the former USSR, but it can be someone who works with house hold cleaners for an extended amount of time, and it would be equivalent to smokers having a lower birth weight for children born to the mother of a smoker. There are people who live the majority of their lives or their entire lives with some type of abnormality, that never shows up, until the ingredients are right for that to occur. It could be a particularly stressful time in life that exposes a heart murmur , or later in life when hormone levels drop and are brought on by a weaker or depleted immune system. We have even seen in the U.S and other places, where a tainted water supply can cause all kinds of birth defects or a higher level of miscarriages. There was just a major class action lawsuit settled against the U.S military concerning cancer and other health issues at Camp Lejeune, over years of toxins that the military personnel were exposed to. Sometimes these same things will lead to fertility issues of not being able to conceive or carry to term. This is pretty amazing, but even in this day and age, with all of our scientific break throughs and technology at an all time high and improving daily, there are still many disorders, that we classify as rare and not sure where it comes from. These are things that were not present in the families gene pool in previous generations and now out of no where just shows up. It’s almost as if it’s not bad enough about the things that we know in our family tree, but we also have to be concerned about the unknown, often unexplainable and mysterious.
Let’s just turn the page for a second. Last I checked, we have a creator and He said that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Take a minute and just think about that statement before you just run past it. Why fearfully? , does that imply to the many many mysteries of the human body? There is much science behind the fact that every time we stand up, we should fall over. Why is it that your eye glass fog up at sudden temperature changes, but the lens in your eyes do not. Have you ever given much thought to the hundreds of calculations that your brain makes for you to just stand, walk across the floor and answer your front door? . I believe that it was back in the nineties when we first discovered the DNA sequence for the human body. Something that God did and we finally got a rough draft ☺️☺️. Maybe, just maybe, fearfully refers to us splicing genes , and cloning of creatures is something we should be extremely cautious about as we seek to create our own modern day Frankenstein. Wonderfully may be just a tad bit easier to digest, as we have the capability to reproduce and sometimes at a scary level when the child is the spitting image of their parent. Now depending on what the parent looks like , this can be a blessing or a curse☺️☺️. We now with the help of fertility clinics and drugs , will often produce babies of five or more at one birth which was one upon a time very rare to completely unheard of, and they rarely lived beyond a few hours or days,, not so much!, now. My mother was and is still known for certain sayings, whether they were true or not, or just steeped in folk lure, I will let You be the judge of that, but one of her saying was as long as you have your health, you have everything. It’s a little simplistic , and I think that it went more of being to go out and build something out of your life. I will be the first to tout , that good health is a great blessing.
My mother would even go one further and talk about if she had to live without one of her senses, which one she would prefer. Now that’s another whole ball of wax, I can’t even begin to imagine what it would be like to loose your sight, or to never have had it in the first place. As I’m getting older, I’m getting a clue about the hearing part , and that hasn’t been a lot of fun just yet, and I’m not real sure when the fun is going to kick in at all☺️☺️. I blame that loud disco music from back in the day, and it turns out that I’m not as bullet proof as I once thought of myself to be☺️☺️.
I know that I was talking about super hero’s, and Mutants, and mutations and they can run from the horrendous and ridiculous, and we can often take it for granted as to just how important something as simple and small as a sphincter can be, it’s just a little muscle that can control a variety of body functions. I would never make light of a birth defect, or some disability, and Lord knows there are plenty of us running around with self inflicted things that we are dealing with due to our life choices. Sometimes those choices are intended and other times, not so much! I also made reference to the Creator, and God refers to Himself as a good, good Father and I have to agree, even though sometimes life’s events will make us question or doubt that, but He is and you can ride that all the way to the bank, but banks do falter, so let’s just ride it all the way to heaven in stead.☺️ The question, then arises, if God is so good and such a loving Father, then , what’s up with the mutations, all of the abnormalities, kids born without limbs, twins joined together and any and every other thing that you wish to lay at the feet of God, and I mean all, school shootings, earth quakes, rape, Incest, and any other horrible and catastrophic thing that you can think of. You see this was not God’s intent or original design. When, He finished creating, He made two pronouncements and one was that “it is good,” and the other was that “it is very good” !. So if God said that it was good to very good, how did we get here? Is God , some sick and twisted creator who doesn’t understand the difference between good and evil?
Ahh!, there it is , wait for it, we were the ones who didn’t trust God and decided that we needed to know for ourselves the knowledge of good and evil. Unfortunately for us we opened pandora’s box, and it was out, and not going to be contained, at least not by us. So, yes this goes back to the garden and all of the really incredible ugly stuff mentioned up above is just a by product of our choices . I can be very sarcastic at times, it’s a gift that I try not to effect others with, but I’m not always as successful as maybe I should be ☺️☺️. Again…tea in China, that’s for the cynics out there who believes that there hands are clean, and looking very stupidly as to the evidence and saying that they didn’t make any choice to pry open Pandora’s box. Yes, it is true that ignorance can be blissful, but that doesn’t make it excusable ☺️☺️.
The cake and eat it too, is as old as the days are long, we want the freedom to make all of the choices that we want to make with none of the down side of consequences, and repercussions. Here is the real news flash for you, every one of those evils that I mentioned above and you convulsed over, lives with in you, yep every single one of them. Surely not the sweet old grandmother in her nineties, or that kind pastor, or the good Samaritan that pulled over and helped me change my tire. Yep each and every one them and a whole bunch of other nice people, whom you couldn’t imagine a mean bone in their body or an cross thought entering their brains.
This points to one of the biggest two mutations in all of history. This is what unites all human beings, regardless of race, creed , color, and yes, nationalities. We are all cursed with the mutation of SIN, we hate that word and try our best to distant ourselves from it every single day, but it’s a constant companion, a shadow that won’t go away, it just lurks in the deepest corners of ourselves . What a God awful dilemma. This is why we aren’t always free to do the good things that we intend, and often do the complete opposite. I know that I shouldn’t gossip, but it’s just killing me to not tell you this just one thing and after that, I will never ever do that again…..at least not until after lunch ☺️☺️☺️. We hate it, but can’t escape it, we are all absolutely infected with the mutation of SIN. See this is why the further we go the more horrific things become, it’s a mutation that makes us more depraved. God realized this from the beginning, and He use to deal with it in a way that was seen as just as horrific. God sees it as a cancer, and if it’s not dealt with it will continue to spread and mutate. In earlier centuries, if parents had a disrespectful child, they would take them to the city gate and have them stoned to death, talk about a deterrent,☺️ and man are we light years from that with the way kids run the homes and disrespect their parents now . The same was true for Adulterers, it was a capital offense, but SIN is serious and who among us hasn’t taken the path of least resistance and looked around at what everyone else is doing and thinking to yourself, well at least I’m not that bad!….not the standard ! ☺️.
So, there was definitely a time when you could paint God as a tough love person. We look at things with our human eyes and think that is just awful, and what kind of loving God would stone a defiant child. Well, it’s His creation and He makes the rules, it sounds harsh and appears cruel, but it was done in love, to keep the wheels from falling off of the cart….sort of. God created us and He loves us , and if you love, you have to be prepared to be hurt. He didn’t create us to be mindless robots, but gave us the freedom to make choices, and often not good ones☺️☺️. When we look at it or think about sin being a capital offense, we completely miss just how offensive our sin is to a Holy God. I can come up with analogies to demonstrate that, but we are so sick and twisted, that someone will think, well that’s not that bad. Some one having sex with your spouse against their will, and you made to watch, now most of us would find that offensive, but sadly, not all. God is Holy, and He gets sick to His stomach at just the slightest scent of SIN.
Let’s wrap this up with the second greatest mutation in all of history. This is the worst, and the most tragic and the most painful of all mutations. It reads like this, He who knew no Sin , became Sin. Please don’t let that just blow by you. The Only sinless person in all of the world, the perfect man, the spotless lamb of God. The one person who was never deserving of God’s wrath,, took it all the full measure of it, and why? Because of love. If there was another way, I’m sure He wouldn’t have chosen to die the most painful and humiliating death of all times. He sacrificed Himself to keep the wheels on the cart…sort of. He offers every single person, regardless of race, creed, color , and yes nationalities the free gift of salvation. If He had to die to obtain it for you, I’m not sure how you can figure that you can earn it for yourself. We have already cover the bases that you are infected with the mutation of SIN, and it’s a monster that you can wrestle with on your own, but it’s undefeated and the only person who has ever over come both hell and the grave is offering you a free ride on the train of His robe. Reader, pay attention, or as they say he who has ears to hear…..listen up! . If you are really a fan or searching for a super hero, here is your guy , He is full of grace and truth, and His super power is He died and three days later rose again, to offer you life eternal. Super power ✔️, and no other mutant can ever match that !
