- ” Crazy People “
- Howdy !,
- As usual, I want to say thank You for being there. Today is the day that was declared to be a day that would live in infamy. If you are unfamiliar with the reference, that statement was made by President Franklin Roosevelt after the attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese, eighty-two years ago today. I only bring this up because, we are so prone to forget, and I believe it’s hard for us to figure out where we are going if we can’t remember where we have been . Just a reminder that’s all, but today I want us to consider what makes people crazy and how we deal with and perceive them. My daughter has made a proclamation about all of us are a little crazy, and the key to engaging and having success with other crazy people is to find the right crazy, or better yet, ” your craziness ” I believe that there is some level of truth to that, whether we wish to own that or not☺️. We all have habits and practices that we do or carry out each and every day, and to us those things are just a normal part of life. Simultaneously there are other people outside, looking in and they are thinking, that’s just a little crazy. Oh!, and don’t feel bad about that, because you have things as well that you may subconsciously judge them about as being crazy as well. We bring things from our families and our upbringing into the world and they are normal to us and to others they may be just a little strange. I will see people out at restaurants praying over their food, to me that is a normal behavior, but others see it as bizarre. I will also see parents out with small or young children in a grocery store, and they let their kids run wild as if they are at a Chuck E. Cheese or something, maybe a normal behavior to them, but to me, not so much!, and a little crazy☺️☺️.
- Regardless , if we believe that we are all a little crazy or not at least from time to time, Can we just agree that there are people out there who deserve a little extra care because they are just a little extra special? ☺️☺️Maybe or perhaps for some of us this is the person who has been abducted by aliens on multiple occasions, but some how are always returned to us , as if the aliens had a taste of humanity, and just said , no thank You.! ☺️☺️ I would totally get that, but I don’t have to put something In my mouth multiple times to know that it’s just not my cup of tea☺️☺️. We don’t have to leave the planet to find the ” special ones”. I reserve a label as “Special Ones ” for anyone out there screaming at the top of their lungs, some belief, position, or agenda, that they hold very near and dear to their little hearts. First of all, who can hear them above all of the rhetoric . Secondly if it’s a mantra, then it’s probably indefensible and that is why they are probably screaming in the first place to try and scare off any opposition, or anyone who may want to point out a flaw in their thinking, or tunnel vision. This, for me is across the board, so politically, or some religious perspective, and one of my personal favorites is people telling us and or writing books about marriage and raising children, when they haven’t experienced either ☺️☺️
- People can be specifically crazy and maybe some of the above points to some of that, and then there is just some general, I wish that someone could explain to me what just happened! I think for me personally as a pet peeve of sorts is the things people do in traffic. There is this bobbing and weaving in and out of traffic, that looks something like something that would be much more at home in side of a boxing ring☺️. There is the pull around you and get in front of you, so I can stop and make an immediate right turn. There is the I’m just fine with how fast I’m going, until you decide to go faster than me, so I must just take off like a pace car at a Nascar race☺️. There must be a hundred different ways of driving distracted now, from writing or reading long emails and text messages, trying to have your Whopper your way☺️☺️, to the reach around to yell at or slap the kids, I have to fix my makeup, and not as rare as you may think, but I have even seen people watching porn and movies while behind the wheel of a car….straight up crazy!
- I could go on about the crazy things people do while shopping or how they treat their pets like children, dressing them in cute little matching outfits, with adorable little booties, that’s right baby shoes for dogs☺️☺️, and no I’m not apologizing for the stepping on your toes ☺️☺️. Some dogs and cats have a higher taste bud pallet then many people, and a lot of them eat way better than our homeless population, and we see nothing wrong with this because we believe in the stupid karma crap or reincarnation, and maybe You will come back as a dog or cat and land yourself a better home next time around…straight up crazy. Where would we be talking about crazy people, if we didn’t talk about sports fans. Right off the back, it says it right there in the name….fanatical!!☺️☺️ Sports fans are some of the craziest people on the face of the planet. I love some of the superstitions surrounding sports, and the lengths people will go with the various ritual that they are willing to go to , to will their teams to victory. Some of them are just down right comical. I’m not opposed to eating the same meal on game day , if that’s what gets you there. Some have to sit in the same seat, or go through some process leading up to heading to the stadium or arena, and that’s fine, but I have to draw a line at having lucky draws(underware) or socks that can’t be washed, because you might wash the luck out….straight up crazy☺️☺️. There are all sorts of other rituals and practices that people engage in to usher in the possibility of victory for a sports franchise, if you can think about it, then its probably been done. I don’t think that this has ever been more perfectly demonstrated than by a cute movie that was out last year called ” Eighties for Brady” . These four women in their Eighties now, try to recreate all of the perfect surroundings for the first time Tom Brady won his first Superbowl, now remember, he played for over twenty years, so something that may have been cute twenty years ago, now borders on just a smidgen of craziness ☺️☺️.
- There is always just something special about saving the best for last . It lends to a big build up and I can promise you that this one will not disappoint. Without a shadow of a doubt, the absolute craziest people that You will ever encounter are people who identify as Christians, the Born again crowd takes the cake☺️☺️. If they are espousing it, you have probably heard of some of the absolute crazy and ridiculous things that they profess as truth. They leave sports fans in the dust by a long way off.
- It’s starts off with ” In the Beginning “, if you are unfamiliar with this, these are the first three words in the Bible and it doesn’t matter what version or interpretation, it starts here. There are just hundreds of miracles, unbelievable things in the old testament, and it starts with God creating, and I mean everything. Some people have a problem with this, but if He can create everything from nothing, then that means everything that we have was put here by God, including the raw materials and resources that we use along with the brains that He gave us to be able to create things ourselves. Now, I have blown up balloons, air mattresses and depending on what kind of shape I was in at the time, could be a little taxing, but never have I ever breathe life into a human being and they just became a living person , but God did that!
- Ok, I said hundreds of unbelievable things and no !, I’m not going to recount all of them, but if God had a highlight reel, it would be pretty impressive and mind blowing. It would go back some seven thousand years, when He took some pretty insignificant people and made them His own and made promises to them , and the insignificant have become the prominent. They are by no means a majority, but they are still God’s covenant people, and He uses them to tell the greatest story that has ever been told. They are both envied and hated, and God promised that they would always be the head and never the tail. All throughout history, you see people trying to alter God’s plan to no avail. They have suffered and been tried to be wiped from the face of the planet on multiple occasions, yet they are resilient and remain. God’s favor, the unbelievable, never seen before things include, people well past the child baring years , having children. People walking through large bodies of water as on dry ground. Where would any great story be without villains that they needed to be rescued from. Plagues and restorations. How about some incredible tower, where God diversified the languages, I’m almost positive that is not what they were thinking was going to happen, going in☺️☺️. There are stories of Giants, battles and a promise land to be flowing with milk and honey. It’s quite the smorgasbord of tellings from dry bones rattling, shepherd boy defeating giants, on his way to becoming king, prophet calling down fire from heaven and of course building a boat before there was any water to sail on, people being turned into pillars of salt , and the list of unbelievable things would just seem endless. All throughout Gods story, you can’t but take notice of all of the dysfunction in families and relationships, and just the general depravity of mankind. Then all of sudden and all at once God was silent, he just stopped speaking to His people.
- This silence lasted for about four hundred years , and then when God spoke again, it wasn’t from a burning bush, or from a thundering cloud of fire, but it was the cry of a helpless baby in a feeding trough, now who can honestly say that they saw that one coming??☺️☺️. Well, I sure didn’t, but it was foretold by God through His prophets hundreds of years before it actually happened, so maybe we should have had a clue ☺️☺️. So after four centuries, God said instead of telling you how to live, I’m going to actually demonstrate that for you, so He sent His Son. All of the incredible, crazy unbelievable things just continued and were brought to a head. It started out as something that we may think is simple, but I don’t have anybody in my family who could turn water into wine, and if I did, oh! Boy, would my life look very differently right now!☺️☺️. God’s people had messed up and completely missed the point as to why He made them His chosen people in the first place, so He sent His Son to take and make corrective actions. He befriended the lowest people , the outcast in society. The ones that No one else would have taken the time with or given a second thought to. Who dares hangs out with lepers, prostitutes and tax collectors, and stinky fishermen and turns them in to an inner circle. Who but Jesus could turn misfits into a community and fill it with love and acceptance? Again this is about crazy people, and sometimes what makes people crazy is what they believe, remember the multiple alien abductions from earlier ☺️☺️. The craziness had further highlights from raising dead people, healing lame people ,,feeding thousands of people with just a few loaves of bread and a few fish, to Jesus actually walking on the water, not parting the water, but actually walking on top of it, who does such things ? Ok, here is the craziest thing yet, Christians believe that Jesus was nailed to a wooden cross, died on that cross, was buried and rose to life again on the third day. Do you hear the words coming out of my mouth, they believe that He is still alive. He did all of this to bridge the gap between God and mankind, so that we could be forgiven and restored to God, the way it was supposed to be ,before a slithering talking snake was on the scene ☺️☺️. Yes, this is a readers digest version and I’m still a bit long.
- I want to make it clear that I’m one of these crazy people who believes every last word of it, and I know that He lives, the King is alive. I get that this is pretty incredible for some of you and there always have been and always will be mockers and unbelieving hearts out there , but remember God runs an upside down kingdom. He uses the weak to lead the strong . The things that seem like utter nonsense to the world, is being used to save souls, so don’t be wise in your own estimations! 1 Corinthians 1:18 2 Corinthians 2:15 I don’t always like quoting scripture verses, but it’s leading up to the celebration of the birth of a King, which we call Christmas, so get on board! Jesus is the reason for the season.
