- The Devil & The Red Tie !
- I want to once again say welcome and also thank you. You guys have been awesome with sharing the post and the site , and I’m having trouble finding the proper amount of gratitude, so once again , thank you so much! Honestly I was working on two other post and this one just came flying in from left field. This wasn’t the plan and now it is. I hope that it is thought provoking for you ,as it was to me , and I will try and keep it brief. When I was younger, from time to time I would enjoy taking the stick and stirring things up, however as I have gotten older, not so much! Every once in a while the urge creeps in, and so today you get the benefit of the stick and the stirring and I hope that it is not to smelly ☺️☺️☺️☺️ . Remember back in the introduction that I said everything was on the table and I would try and be fair, sensitive, and try not to receive to much hate emails, but feel free to give it your best shot ☺️. So the other day, I was talking to a friend of mine out in Topeka. She was saying some very thought provoking things about friendships and how they are sometimes defined. Honestly that could be a whole post by itself, but that is not what we are here for. By the time she finished her comments, my weird brain ran of to an old movie, not really that old, but it was called ” The Devil wears Prada “. I don’t remember all the details about the movie, it stared Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep and had something to do with the fashion industry or publishing, can’t remember which, I probably should have looked it up if I was going to talk about it. Let’s just say , that for the most part that the movie was a mute point other than the fact that Protagonist, in the film made it very easy to Vilify her. Her underlings saw her as the worse person ever and chose to associate her with the Devil. Some of you are really sharp and are beginning to have twisted thoughts as I do from time to time, and you know where I am going with this. I have encountered countless people, mostly women who believe that Donald Trump is the antichrist. I say countless, but I could count them and it would be more than you think it might be, but a lot! I had just said not that long ago that I would not excuse or defend people who do and say heinous things. I don’t know about all of the things that Trump has said and done, but some of his speech and actions are indefensible, and I felt much the same way, when Bill Clinton occupied the oval office. I may be one of those few people who believes that character matters. I was further reminded that this should apply to a double high standard for the person who is supposed to be the face of the free world. If you don’t understand that, then think about your favorite football team or other sporting franchise, and who ever the star player(s) is , and that is the face of the franchise. I once upon a time wore the uniform of this nation, so sadly I’m familiar with sometimes you have to respect the rank on the collar , because you had very little to none for the person who was designated as your superior. So , in this case we have to respect the office, because it is truly not about the man behind the desk. I will further like to remind you that we get the government that we deserve, because we do vote these buffoons into office, and that stands regardless of which ever side of the isle they come from. I mean to be honest, Trump makes it to easy at times and it’s like low hanging fruit. Trump, thinks that a red neck tie is a sign of power, and has said that he has made some of his best deals , while sporting a strong red tie. Now ,as to what those deals maybe I can’t decern as to whether that is some power business deal or him screwing over the American people. ☺️☺️I will admit that to call him polarizing is an understatement. I am surprised by a wide spectrum of people who have no problem with being judged and jury, and saying let’s string him up, probably a poor choice of words, considering the history in this country☺️☺️. Well if not an old west lynching, they are definitely on board for a crucified Trump. He is a public figure, so I get that he is fair game. Unfortunately, my belief is that he is no different from all of the rest of them, the difference is he doesn’t try to hide it, and doesn’t care what people think about him. The truth is for a long time and even until this very day, politics is a popularity contest, its not about who has the best vision for the country, or who is smarter , or even qualified. Again, not defending him, but at least you know what you are getting with him. One of my least favorite things is a waffler, or a person who opinions change depending on which way the wind is blowing. I guess that’s why some refer to them as panhandlers. They will be in front of one group and say one thing, and go to another group and say something else, or completely different. Accountability is almost a lost art form and for the most part is something only applied to one side of the isle, while the other side will tell you that it was taken out of context, but never offering clarity on the matter, and, I thought ells were slippery ☺️☺️. Moving on, people can really get their panties in a bunch over this, while I really don’t believe that politics is the answer for what the ailments of the world are, and especially not America. Let’s get back to Mr. Trump, what would happen if we stopped giving him so much of our time and energy? What happens when the news stops finding him interesting or thought provoking?, and again i know that it is about ratings and keeping the masses at each other’s throats. He would probably disappear into an obscure cult following much like pulp fiction or the matrix , and do I dare bring up the name David Duke. Again if you are unaware, there is Google, do a little investigating. It is very true that we should require more from someone who is supposed to represent the free world. I will tell you that Mr. Trump is not the first person to occupy the oval office , and I needed to be reminded to have respect for the office, because I had very little for the man. Regardless of how you feel about him, his supporters, and his rhetoric , he is not the devil or even close to the worse person who has ever lived. You may be wondering how or why I’m so sure of that, and the answer to that question is because I own and operate in that place of position :):). Now your intrigued and think how so! Well , I’m aware of every misstep that I have ever taken in life and many of them are just between my maker and myself. Some I have tried to hide, blot out, or even have selected amnesia about, but they are all apart of my history. And the worse part is, that I’m not even done with doing and saying things that I’m not proud of. It’s not that I’m planning or have a quota to do and say those things intentionally, but I’m human and we are known for making mistakes and hurting one another causing and inflicting great pain at times, and sadly at times that falls on the people we love most. The point here is that it’s all so easy to look at and critique other people’s behavior, while completely looking beyond our own faults and failures . Yes, Mr. Trump’s flaws are public and on full display for everyone to take their best shot at. However have you ever thought about just taking a few small steps in his shoes? I get it! It’s easy to say well, I wouldn’t do that or say that, and that may or may not be true. See, I know who we are as human beings, we are capable of great acts of kindness, love and compassion, however the opposite is true as well, we possess within side of each and everyone of us to do horrible things, that you would think were exclusive to animals and the wild kingdom, but not so much !. Given the right timing and circumstances, we are all capable of breaking all of the “10 commandments “, on a single day☺️☺️. If you think not me, then you are only kidding yourself. Things that we find repulsive and disgusting and we could never see ourselves doing, lies within all of us. If you think not, why do you think we have something known as crimes of passion, or why is the mental health industry just booming,, with people trying to work through issues that may otherwise find themselves on a ledge somewhere. We don’t like to think of ourselves as base creatures with our sometimes instincts just slightly above that of wild animals, but that can be the case. It may be an extreme case to find yourself on a deserted island, with no provisions and you turning to cannibalism, but it has happened, and I’m pretty sure, that before they found themselves there, those individuals could never imagine themselves in such dire straights. There is a part of me that would love to know what your reaction would be if all of your dirty laundry and skeletons were in the public arena for all to glare at and to pick a part. Trust me there would be a long line of critics, saying how could they ? , how do they live with themselves,? how do they sleep at night, ? and the list could go on and on, all the while being happy that it is you under the microscope and not themselves. Every day we have the chance to encounter people who will need extra grace, as we deal with sometime difficult people with abrasive personalities and attitudes, and yes, sometimes that person is you or ourselves. The saying use to be , don’t throw stones if you live in a glass house, however I think for the most part that has been forgotten as well. Ok, let’s see if we can wrap this up, since I said that I would keep it brief. We love those Ahha! moments, when we catch someone with their hand in the proverbial cookie jar, and I would suspect there are more than a few of you who have that perspective on Mr. Trump. My mind for some reason ran to the story of Jesus’s encounter with the woman caught in the act of adultery, which in those days was a capital offense, which means she could have been put to death for it. If you don’t know the story, you may find it interesting, it can be found in book of John, chapter 8, verses 3 to 11. In that story Jesus made the bold statement that he who was without sin, should cast the first stone, because being stoned to death was their form of lethal injection, can someone say ouch!!☺️. The story goes on to say how they dropped their stones and walked away, starting with the oldest first. Don’t miss this point, why the oldest first? because the longer we walk around on the planet, the more chances we have to get it wrong ourselves. As I said earlier I’m one of the worse, and I’m in good company with the apostle Paul, and unfortunately or fortunately depending on your slant , with Mr. Trump as well. We all need grace each and every day, and it would just be awesome if we learned how to pass it on , instead of hoarding it for ourselves. Some of us like the comparison game, and we love to lie to ourselves, and we say and think, at least I’m not as bad as,….and you fill in the blank, or I would never do, what they did, and again, you fill in the blank. What you need to remember is ,that person is not the gold standard, and they will never measure up, as long as you are using a subjective standard and at the same time hoarding the grace, and presuming justice or judgment for them. The last time I checked there has only been one sinless person to walk the earth and that is absolutely the gold standard. And according to Him sin is sin, so there are no lesser ones. In case you are a little slow at times like myself, murder is on equal footing with gossip. Adultery is on the same footing with a little white lie. Let’s stop kidding ourselves and start to cut each other some slack, whether they wear a red tie ,or not .
- Till next time ✌️ peace .
